Toronto, Ontario – (August 28, 2019) – Sigma Analytical Services (“Sigma Analytical” or the “Company”), in collaboration with Trackloop Analytics Corp., is pleased to announce an LOI to jointly develop and demonstrate the first fully integrated hardware/software track & trace platform for cannabis bioanalytical chemistry testing. This collaborative initiative is the first pilot-scale effort in Canada for testing Trackloop’s traceability platform “ChainTrack” in an analytical lab environment for the cannabis industry.

The cannabis industry is currently in crucial need of solution to address the complexities of analytical testing, establishing standards within variances, and maintaining strict sample and product traceability, while staying ahead of increasing regulatory requirements. Traceability of inventory for mandatory testing limits, quality assurance and control is a critical challenge involved in product testing and reporting to meet compliance under the Canadian Cannabis Act, and this initiative will establish requirements and best practices for tracking and traceability for other cannabis testing labs to adopt. When complete, this project will have established extensive channels to roll out from pilot-scale to full adaptation by major stakeholders in the cannabis industry, as well as a wider analytical testing industry.
